WHAT'S IN
      VAPES?

WHAT’S HIDING INSIDE

You know it’s not “just water vapor.” to see how many chemicals are hiding in that vape cloud.

A vape cloud is actually an aerosol, which is made up of many ingredients. Ones that are on the label, and ones that aren’t.

WHAT ARE FLAVORS MADE OF?

Vape flavors are made using chemicals. Scroll to see the damage these flavoring chemicals can do.

Vanilla

Made with vanillin, one of the aldehyde family of chemicals that are toxic to human cells. This common flavorant can cause serious respiratory irritation.

Cinnamon

Made with cinnamaldehyde, another aldehyde that can cause the cells in your body to die faster than normal.

Buttered Popcorn

It’s diacetyl, a chemical that makes the “buttery” flavoring and can cause a permanent medical condition called “popcorn lung,” which scars your lung’s air sacs.

Fruit Flavors

They’re actually benzaldehyde, an aldehyde compound found in most fruit flavors. It can cause inflammation that narrows your airways, making it hard to breathe.

Mint or Menthol

This flavor is made from pulegone, which is banned from food for causing cancer. This chemical can also cause liver toxicity and kidney disease.

Acetone, found in vape aerosol, is also found in nail polish remover and paint thinner. Inhaling can lead to headaches, dizziness, confusion, and nausea.
